Julia Bickerstaff, MS, LPC, NCC

Julia graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a minor in studio arts, and a children's literature certificate. She then went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gannon University. During her time in school, she worked in a variety of mental health settings, including child development centers, outpatient clinics, school-based settings, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, and research domains. While obtaining her undergraduate degree, Julia was on two research teams and published a research paper as first author in 2021 for a study that explored the effects of blogging in adolescents and young adults with depression and anxiety symptoms.

Julia opened her practice, JB Counseling & Wellness, PLLC in 2025, where she provides virtual, specialized care to those 18+ diagnosed with OCD, anxiety disorders, body-focused repetitive behaviors (skin-picking, hair-pulling, etc.), and Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Julia’s training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) for OCD. 

She has presented at the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) 2023 Annual Conference, is a professional member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), regularly attends monthly consultation groups, and participates in online communities of OCD and anxiety specialists.

Julia enjoys art and reading, as well as spending time with her husband, her family, and her cat Nova.
